[Those are the ones who have purchased error for guidance and punishment for forgiveness.] Al-Hasan said: Meaning: They chose error over guidance, and punishment over forgiveness. [How patient they are for the Fire] meaning: How bold they are in performing the deeds that lead them into the Fire.
﴿أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ اشْتَرَوُا الضَّلالَةَ بِالْهُدَى وَالْعَذَاب بالمغفرة﴾ قَالَ الحَسَن: يَعْنِي: اخْتَارُوا الضَّلَالَة على الْهدى، وَالْعَذَاب على الْمَغْفِرَة ﴿فَمَا أصبرهم على النَّار﴾ أَي: فَمَا أجرأهم على الْعَمَل الَّذِي يدخلهم النَّار
