"The Hajj is (during) certain months" (2:197), which are: Shawwal, Dhu al-Qa'dah, and ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah. "So whoever performs Hajj therein" (2:197), meaning: makes it obligatory upon himself, "there is no Rafath (sexual intercourse/obscene speech), nor Fusooq (sinful conduct), nor Jidal (disputation) during Hajj." Ibn Abbas said: "Al-Rafath is sexual intercourse; Al-Fusooq is acts of disobedience; and Al-Jidal is for some to argue with others until they become angry."
Yahya narrated from Hammad, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Tawus, that Ibn al-Zubayr said: "Beware of women; for the I'rab (expressive language/suggestive speech) is part of Rafath. And I'rab is for one to use expressive language to her by saying: 'If we were not in the state of Ihram, we would have done such and such.' He said: I informed Ibn Abbas of that, and he said: 'Ibn al-Zubayr spoke the truth.'"
(fol. 27) "And whatever good you do, Allah knows it" (2:197). It is like His saying: "And whatever good they do, they will never be denied it" (3:115).
