"And when it is said to him, 'Fear Allah,' pride leads him to sin." Qatadah's interpretation: When it is said to him, 'Fear Allah; for this which you are doing is not permissible for you,' he says: 'I am drawing closer to Allah through this.'
Allah says: "So Hell will be sufficient for him, and how wretched is the resting place." The words 'mihad' (resting place), 'bisat' (carpet), and 'firash' (bed) all have the same meaning. [Verse 207]
﴿وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُ اتَّقِ اللَّهَ أَخَذته الْعِزَّة بالإثم﴾ تَفْسِير قَتَادَة: إِذا قِيلَ لَهُ: اتَّقِ الله؛ ﴿ل ٢٨﴾ فَإِن هَذَا الَّذِي تصنع لَا يحِق لَك، قَالَ: إِنِّي لِأَزْدَادَ بِهَذَا عِنْد اللَّه قربَة.
قَالَ اللَّه: ﴿فَحَسْبُهُ جَهَنَّمُ وَلَبِئْسَ الْمِهَادُ﴾ والمهاد والبساط والفراش وَاحِد. [آيَة ٢٠٧]
