al-Thawri, from Abd al-A'la, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Whoever speaks about the Quran without knowledge, let him take his seat in the Fire."
Yahya said: A companion of mine informed me, from Sa'id ibn Abi 'Aruba, from Qatadah, "that Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman said to Uthman ibn Affan: What will you do when it is said: 'The reading of so-and-so' and 'The reading of so-and-so,' just as the People of the Scripture did? So I should do it now. Thus, Uthman gathered the people upon this mushaf (codex); and it is the dialect of Zayd."
Yahya said: Al-Hasan ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Muhammad ibn Sirin, "that Gabriel used to come to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and present the Quran to him once every year. When it was the year in which he passed away, he came to him and presented it to him twice."
Ibn Sirin said: They used to hold the view that this recitation of ours was based on the final presentation."
الثَّوْريّ، عَن عبد الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: " من قَالَ فِي الْقُرْآن بِغَيْر علم، فَليَتَبَوَّأ مَقْعَده من النَّار ".
يَحْيَى: وَأَخْبَرَنِي صَاحِبٌ لِي، عَنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عُرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَة " أَن حُذَيْفَة بن الْيَمَان قَالَ لعُثْمَان بن عَفَّان: مَا كنت صانعا إِذا قيل: قِرَاءَة فلَان، وَقِرَاءَة فلَان؛ كَمَا صنع أهل الْكتاب فأصنعه الْآن. فَجمع عُثْمَان النَّاس على هَذَا الْمُصحف؛ وَهُوَ حرف زيد ".
يحيى: وحَدثني الْحسن بْنِ [دِينَارٍ] عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِين " أَن جِبْرِيل كَانَ يَأْتِي النَّبي ﷺ فَيعرض عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآن عرضة كل عَام؛ فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْعَام الَّذِي قبض فِيهِ، أَتَاهُ فَعرض عَلَيْهِ مرَّتَيْنِ ".
قَالَ ابْن سِيرِين: فَكَانُوا (يرَوْنَ أَن قراءتنا هَذِه) على العرضة الْآخِرَة.
