"Indeed, those who have believed and those who have emigrated and fought in the cause of Allah—those hope for the mercy of Allah"—meaning: they yearn for the mercy of Allah; namely: Paradise. Al-Hasan said: It is a matter of assurance; meaning: He will surely grant that to them. Qatadah said: The first verse mentioned the story of the killing of Ibn al-Hadrami, what the polytheists said, and what Allah revealed concerning that. Then, Allah praised the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) with the best of praises, saying: "Indeed, those who have believed," to the end of the verse.
