'And a remnant of what the family of Moses and the family of Aaron left behind.' In it were the staff of Moses, the fragments of the tablets, and a qafiz (measure) of manna which Moses, peace be upon him, had left with his servant, Joshua son of Nun, while he was in the wilderness.
In the interpretation of some of them: The angels arrived carrying it until they placed it in the house of Saul, so he awoke and it was in his house. Al-Hasan said: The Ark was made of wood. [Verse 249]
﴿وَبَقِيَّةٌ مِمَّا تَرَكَ آلُ مُوسَى وَآل هَارُون﴾ وَكَانَ فِيهِ عَصا مُوسَى ورضاض الألواح وقفيز مَنٍّ كَانَ مُوسَى عليه السلام (ل ٣٦) تَركه عِنْد فتاه يُوشَع بْن نون وَهُوَ فِي الْبَريَّة.
فِي تَفْسِير بَعضهم: فَأَقْبَلت بِهِ الْمَلَائِكَة تحمله حَتَّى وَضعته فِي دَار طالوت فَأصْبح فِي دَاره. قَالَ الحَسَن: وَكَانَ التابوت من خشب. [آيَة ٢٤٩]
