[Those who consume interest cannot stand]—meaning: from their graves on the Day of Resurrection, [except as stands the one whom Satan has confounded with touch]—meaning: madness. [He means insane; you say: an insane man, that is: deranged; likewise is the consumer of interest].

Yahya, from Hammad, [from Abu Harun al-'Abdi, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri] that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) spoke about the night he was taken on the Night Journey (fol. 40), and in his narration he said: "I then came upon men whose bellies were like houses; they would stand up and then fall onto their backs and their bellies. I said: 'Who are these, O Gabriel?' He replied: 'These are the consumers of interest.' Then he recited this verse: [Those who consume interest]—to the end of the verse."
