"[It will be] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and those before them," the verse. Al-Hasan said: This is a parable Allah set forth for the polytheists of the Arabs; He says: They disbelieved and acted in the same manner as the people of Pharaoh and the disbelievers who were before them. "So Allah seized them for their sins," for He defeated them on the Day of Badr and gathered them into Hell. Muhammad said: Al-da'b in the language means habit; it is said: This is his habit (da'buhu).
﴿كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَالَّذِينَ مِنْ قبلهم﴾ الْآيَة.
قَالَ الحَسَن: هَذَا مثل ضربه اللَّه لمشركي الْعَرَب؛ يَقُولُ: كفرُوا، وصنعوا كصنيع آل فِرْعَوْن وَالَّذين من قبلهم من الْكفَّار ﴿فَأَخذهُم الله بِذُنُوبِهِمْ﴾ فَهَزَمَهُمْ يَوْم بدر، وحشرهم إِلَى جَهَنَّم.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: الدأب فِي اللُّغَة: الْعَادة؛ يُقَال: هَذَا دأبه.
