"His name is the Messiah," meaning: he was anointed with blessing; according to the tafsir of al-Hasan. "And he shall be of high standing in this world and in the Hereafter." Muhammad said: A man becomes of high standing (wujuh), and [the verb] awjahani means: He made me of high standing. "And of those brought near" to Allah on the Day of Resurrection.
﴿اسْمه الْمَسِيح﴾ أَي: مُسِحَ بِالْبركَةِ؛ فِي تَفْسِير الْحسن. ﴿ووجيها فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ﴾ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: وَجُهَ الرجل، وأوجهني أَي: صيرني وجيها. ﴿وَمن المقربين﴾ عِنْد الله يَوْم الْقِيَامَة.
