"Indeed, the most worthy of Abraham among the people are those who followed him"—Qatada said: meaning, upon his creed—"and this prophet"—meaning: Muhammad, peace be upon him—"and those who believed," meaning: the believers who recognized the Prophet of God and followed him.
﴿إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ لَلَّذِينَ اتَّبعُوهُ﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَة: أَي: على مِلَّته ﴿وَهَذَا النَّبِي﴾ (ل ٤٧) يَعْنِي: مُحَمَّدًا عليه السلام ﴿وَالَّذين آمنُوا﴾ يَعْنِي: الْمُؤمنِينَ الَّذين (عرفُوا) نَبِي الله واتبعوه. [آيَة]
