"Indeed, those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers, never would the 'fullness of the earth' in gold be accepted from one of them, even if he offered it as ransom" (Quran 3:91). Muhammad said: It is said: 'This is the fill (mil') of this,' meaning: the amount of what fills it. The term 'mil'' with a fatha is the verbal noun. It is said: 'I filled (mala'tu) the thing with a filling (mal'an).' This is the preferred choice (according to the linguists).
﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَمَاتُوا وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ فَلَنْ يُقْبَلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمْ مِلْءُ الأَرْضِ ذَهَبًا وَلَوِ افْتَدَى بِهِ﴾ قَالَ مُحَمَّد: يُقَال: هَذَا مِلْءُ هَذَا؛ أَي: مِقْدَار مَا يمْلَأ، والْمَلْءُ الْمصدر فبالفتح، يُقَال: مَلَأت الشَّيْء ملئا؛ هَذَا هُوَ الِاخْتِيَار (عِنْد اللغويين)
