"[Those who responded to Allah and the Messenger after injury had struck them]" meaning: the wounds; that was on the day of Uhud, when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "May Allah have mercy on a people who rise up so that the polytheists may know that we have not been eradicated, and that there remains some strength among us." So, a group of those who had been afflicted with wounds rose up."
﴿الَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِلَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ مِنْ بعد مَا أَصَابَهُم الْقرح﴾ يَعْنِي: الْجراح؛ وَذَلِكَ يَوْم أُحُد؛ حَيْثُ قَالَ رَسُول الله ﷺ: ((رَحِمَ اللَّهُ قوما ينتدبون حَتَّى يعلم الْمُشْركُونَ أَنا لم نستأصل، وَأَن فِينَا بَقِيَّة فَانْتدبَ قوم مِمَّن أَصَابَتْهُم الْجراح)).
