الترجمة · EN

[Those to whom the people said: "The people have gathered against you"] up to His saying: ["And Allah is possessor of great bounty"]. The interpretation of al-Kalbi: It reached us that Abu Sufyan, on the day of [Uhud], when he intended to depart, said: "O Muhammad, the meeting place between us and you is the season of Badr al-Sughra, where we shall fight if you wish." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to him: "That is the agreement between us and you." Abu Sufyan departed and arrived in Mecca, where he met a man from Ashja' called Nu'aym ibn Mas'ud. He said to him: "I have made an appointment with Muhammad and his companions and I do not want to go out to meet them, yet I dislike that Muhammad and his companions should go out while I do not, for that would increase their boldness against me, and I would prefer that they remain behind. You shall have ten camels if you can hold them back from me so that they do not come out." So the Ashja'i man arrived in Medina while the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) were preparing for the meeting with Abu Sufyan. He asked: "Where do you intend to go?" They replied: "We have a promise with Abu Sufyan to meet at the season of Badr and fight there." He said: "A wretched opinion you have reached! They came to you in your own homes and stable lands, and only a few of you escaped. Now you intend to go out to them while they have gathered against you at the meeting place? By Allah, then not a single one of you will escape!" So the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) disliked that

﴿الَّذِينَ قَالَ لَهُمُ النَّاسُ إِنَّ النَّاس قد جمعُوا لكم﴾ إِلَى قَوْله: (ل ٥٦) ﴿وَالله ذُو فضل عَظِيم﴾ تَفْسِير الْكَلْبِيّ: بلغنَا: ((أَن أَبَا سُفْيَان يَوْم [أحد] حِين أَرَادَ أَن ينْصَرف قَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّد، موعد مَا بَيْننَا وَبَيْنكُم موسم بدر الصُّغْرَى أَن نُقَاتِل بهَا إِن شِئْت؛ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُول اللَّهِ ﷺ: ذَلِك بَيْننَا وَبَيْنك. فَانْصَرف أَبُو سُفْيَان فَقدم مَكَّة، فلقي رجلا من أَشْجَع يُقَال لَهُ: نعيم بن مَسْعُود؛ فَقَالَ لَهُ: إِنِّي قد وَاعَدت مُحَمَّدًا وَأَصْحَابه وَلَا أخرج إِلَيْهِم، وأكره أَن يخرج مُحَمَّد وَأَصْحَابه وَلَا أخرج؛ فيزيدهم ذَلِك عَليّ جرْأَة، وَيكون الْخلف مِنْهُم أحب إِلَيّ، فلك عشرَة من الْإِبِل إِن أَنْت حَبسته عني فَلم يخرج؛ فَقدم الْأَشْجَعِيّ الْمَدِينَة، وَأَصْحَاب رَسُول الله ﷺ يَتَجَهَّزُونَ لميعاد أبي سُفْيَان؛ فَقَالَ: أَيْن تُرِيدُونَ؟ فَقَالُوا: واعدنا أَبَا سُفْيَان أَن نَلْتَقِي بِمَوْسِم بدر فنقتتل بهَا، فَقَالَ: بئس الرَّأْي رَأَيْتُمْ، أَتَوْكُم فِي دِيَاركُمْ وقراركم؛ فَلم يُفْلت مِنْكُم إِلَّا شريد؛ وَأَنْتُم تُرِيدُونَ أَن تخْرجُوا إِلَيْهِم وَقد جمعُوا لكم عِنْد الْمَوْسِم، وَالله إِذن لَا يفلت مِنْكُم أحد؛ فكره أَصْحَاب رَسُول اللَّهِ ﷺ أَن
