His saying: "And do not wish for that by which Allah has made some of you exceed others" (An-Nisa: 32).
The Tafsir of Mujahid: It was revealed regarding women who were saying: "Oh, if only we were men, so that we might participate in military expeditions and attain the status of men."
قَوْله: ﴿وَلا تَتَمَنَّوْا مَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ﴾ الْآيَة.
تَفْسِير مُجَاهِد: نزلت فِي النِّسَاء يقلن: يَا ليتنا كُنَّا [رجَالًا فنغزو، ونبلغ مبلغ] (ل ٦٤) الرِّجَال.
