she antagonizes her husband. (Then send an arbiter from his people and an arbiter from her people) if she shows defiance and that is brought to the Imam, the Imam shall send an arbiter from the woman's family and an arbiter from the man's family to reconcile between them. They are to unite them and not cause separation, and they shall examine from where the discord arises. If they reconcile, then that is the command of God; and if they refuse that and the woman insists on nothing but defiance, the Imam shall hold her to account for that defiance. If she then redeems herself from her husband, it is permissible for him to grant her khul' (divorce initiated by the wife). (If they both desire reconciliation) Mujahid said: It means: the two arbiters. (God will restore harmony between them) [Verses 36-37].
