تفسير القرآن العزيز لابن أبي زمنين

"How, then, will it be when a calamity befalls them?" Al-Hasan said: This statement is disconnected from what precedes it and what follows it. He says: "When a calamity befalls them," meaning when they manifest what is in their hearts, the Messenger of Allah will kill them. There is an elision in it, and the elision that is in it means: When a calamity befalls them, it will not save them, nor will it aid them. Then, he returns to the first part of the discourse up to His saying: "They turn away from you in aversion" (Then they come to you, swearing by Allah, "We intended nothing but good and reconciliation"), meaning: We intended nothing but good.
