"And when you are among them and lead the prayer for them" [Qur'an 4:102]. Mujahid said: 'The Prophet, peace be upon him, and his companions were at 'Usfan, and the polytheists were at Dajnan. They stood face to face, so the Prophet, peace be upon him, led his companions in the Dhuhr prayer of four rak'ahs, with their bowing, prostration, and standing done together. The polytheists contemplated raiding their baggage and heavy equipment, so Allah revealed: "And when you are among them and lead the prayer for them" [to the end of] the verse.'
His saying: "And there is no sin upon you if you are troubled by rain or if you are ill that you put down your weapons, but take your precaution" [Qur'an 4:102], meaning: they may put down their weapons while they remain cautious.
Muhammad [Ibn Abi Zamanin] said: Yahya mentioned the Sunnah of the prayer of fear (Salat al-Khawf) and reported a difference of opinion regarding it. I have abbreviated that, as it has its own place in the books of jurisprudence (Fiqh).
﴿وَإِذَا كُنْتَ فِيهِمْ فَأَقَمْتَ لَهُمُ الصَّلَاة﴾ قَالَ مُجَاهِد: ((إِن النَّبِي عليه السلام وَأَصحابه كَانُوا بعسفان، وَالْمُشْرِكُونَ بضجنان فتواقفوا فصلى النَّبِي عليه السلام بِأَصْحَابِهِ الظّهْر أَرْبعا؛ ركوعهم وسجودهم وقيامهم مَعًا، فهم بهم الْمُشْركُونَ أَن (يُغيرُوا) على أمتعتهم وأثقالهم، فَأنْزل الله ﴿وَإِذَا كُنْتَ فِيهِمْ فأقمت لَهُم الصَّلَاة﴾ الْآيَة).
قَوْله: ﴿وَلا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِنْ كَانَ بِكُمْ أَذًى مِنْ مَطَرٍ أَوْ كُنْتُمْ مَرْضَى أَنْ تضعوا أسلحتكم وخذوا حذركُمْ﴾ أَي: يضعون أسلحتهم وهم (يحذرون﴾.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: ذكر يحيى سُنة صَلَاة الْخَوْف، وَنقل فِيهَا اخْتِلَافا؛ فاختصرت ذَلِكَ؛ إِذْ لَهُ مَوْضِعه من كتب الْفِقْه.
