"And do not weaken in pursuit of the people," meaning: do not become weak in seeking them. "If you should be suffering - so are they suffering as you are suffering," meaning: the pain of wounds. "And you expect from Allah that which they do not expect," meaning: of His reward, which the polytheists do not expect. With this, He encourages them toward Jihad. [Verse 105-106]
﴿وَلا تَهِنُوا فِي ابْتِغَاءِ الْقَوْمِ﴾ أَي: لَا تضعفوا فِي طَلَبهمْ ﴿إِنْ تَكُونُوا تَأْلَمُونَ فَإِنَّهُمْ يَأْلَمُونَ كَمَا تألمون﴾ يَعْنِي: وجع الْجراح ﴿وَتَرْجُونَ مِنَ الله مَا لَا يرجون﴾ أَي: من ثَوَابه مَا لَا يَرْجُو الْمُشْركُونَ، يرغبهم بذلك فِي الْجِهَاد. [آيَة ١٠٥ - ١٠٦]
