"wa dakhala ma'ahu al-sijna fatayani qala ahaduhuma inni arani a'siru khamran" (And there entered the prison with him two young men; one of them said: Indeed, I see myself pressing wine). This is in the reading of Ibn Mas'ud: (a'siru 'inaban - I am pressing grapes).

"wa qala al-akharu inni arani ahmilu fawqa ra'si khubzan" (And the other said: Indeed, I see myself carrying upon my head bread). This is in the reading of Ibn Mas'ud: (tharidan - bread-broth), meaning a bowl of bread-broth.

"inna naraka mina al-muhsinin" (Indeed, we see you to be of the doers of good). Qatada said: His goodness, according to what has reached us, was that he would tend to their wounded and console those of them who were grieving. They saw goodness in him, and thus they loved him for his actions. The one who said: "Indeed, I see myself pressing wine" was the King's cupbearer for his drink, and the one who said: "Indeed, I see myself carrying upon my head bread" was the King's baker for his food.
