the king of Egypt, [since] the jurisdiction belonged to him, "except that Allah should will." Muhammad said: It was said that this means: except for a pretext which Allah devised for him, by which Joseph made a case.

"And over every possessor of knowledge is one [more] knowing." Al-Hasan said: Yes, by Allah, there is above every possessor of knowledge one who is more knowing, until knowledge reaches the One who brought it, and that is Allah. Everything Joseph did regarding his brother was merely something he accepted from Allah.
