“And most of them believe not in Allah except that they associate partners with Him.” The interpretation of Qatadah: He said: Their belief is that you do not ask any of them but he will inform you that Allah is his Lord, yet in that, he is a polytheist in his worship.
﴿وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُمْ بِاللَّهِ إِلا وهم مشركون﴾ تَفْسِيرُ قَتَادَةَ: قَالَ: إِيمَانُهُمْ أَنَّكَ لَا تَسْأَلُ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ إِلا أَنْبَأَكَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ رَبُّهُ؛ وَهُوَ فِي ذَلِكَ مشركٌ فِي عِبَادَتِهِ:
