"God expands the provision for whom He wills," meaning: He makes it abundant for him, "and He restricts," meaning: He constricts. "And they rejoiced in the worldly life," meaning: they were satisfied with the worldly life (fol. 162), referring to the polytheists. "And the worldly life, in comparison to the Hereafter, is nothing but a brief enjoyment." Mujahid said: Meaning, he enjoys it, then it passes away.
