"The likeness of the Paradise," meaning: its description, "which the righteous have been promised, its fruit," meaning its produce, "is lasting," that is: it does not run out, "and its shade."
Muhammad said: "The likeness of the Paradise" is in the nominative case (marfu') as the subject of an incipient sentence (mubtada').
"That is the outcome for those who feared Allah," meaning: Paradise, "and the outcome for the disbelievers is the Fire."
﴿مثل الْجنَّة﴾ أَيْ: صِفَتُهَا ﴿الَّتِي وُعِدَ الْمُتَّقُونَ أكلهَا﴾ ثَمَرهَا ﴿دائمٌ﴾ أَي: لَا ينْفد ﴿وظلها﴾.
قَالَ محمدٌ: (مثل الْجنَّة﴾ مرفوعٌ بِالابْتِدَاءِ.
﴿تِلْكَ عُقْبَى الَّذِينَ اتَّقوا﴾ يَعْنِي: الْجَنَّةَ ﴿وَعُقْبَى الْكَافِرِينَ النَّارُ﴾.
