'And why should we not rely upon Allah while He has guided us to our paths?'—meaning: the paths of guidance. 'And we will surely be patient against whatever harm you cause us'—meaning: their words to the prophets, 'You are sorcerers, and you are liars.'
﴿وَقد هدَانَا سبلنا﴾ يَعْنُونَ: سُبُلَ الْهُدَى ﴿وَلَنَصْبِرَنَّ عَلَى مَا آذيتمونا﴾ يَعْنُونَ: قَوْلَهُمْ لِلأَنْبِيَاءِ: إِنَّكُمْ سَحَرَةٌ، وَإِنَّكُمْ كاذبون.
