"Thus do We insert it," meaning We insert the act of denial "into the hearts of the criminals," referring to the polytheists.
Muhammad says: You say 'salktu fulanan fi al-tariq' (I led someone along the path) and 'aslaktuhu' (I caused him to enter it), both having the same meaning.
﴿كَذَلِك نسلكه﴾ نَسْلُكُ التَّكْذِيبَ ﴿فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ﴾ يَعْنِي: الْمُشْرِكِينَ.
قَالَ محمدٌ: تَقُولُ: سَلَكْتُ فُلانًا فِي الطَّرِيقِ وَأَسْلَكْتُهُ بِمَعْنى واحدٍ.
