(Wa huwa alladhi sakhkhara al-bahra) - meaning: He created - (li-ta'kulu minhu lahman tariyyan) - meaning: fish - (wa tastakhriju minhu hilyatan talbasunaha) - meaning: pearls - (wa tara al-fulka) - the ships - (mawakhira fihi) - meaning: their splitting of the water as they sail.
Muhammad said: It is said, "makhara al-safinatu al-ma'a" (the ship plowed the water) when it cuts through it.
(Wa li-tabtaghu min fadlihi) - meaning: seeking trade in the ships.
﴿وَهُوَ الَّذِي سخر الْبَحْر﴾ أَيْ: خَلَقَ ﴿لِتَأْكُلُوا مِنْهُ لَحْمًا طريا﴾ يَعْنِي: الْحِيتَانَ ﴿وَتَسْتَخْرِجُوا مِنْهُ حِلْيَةً تلبسونها﴾ يَعْنِي: اللُّؤْلُؤ ﴿وَترى الْفلك﴾ السفن ﴿مواخر فِيهِ﴾ يَعْنِي: شَقَّهَا الْمَاءَ فِي وَقْتِ جَرْيِهَا.
قَالَ محمدٌ: يُقَالُ: مَخَرَتِ السَّفِينَةُ الْمَاءَ؛ إِذَا شَقَّتْهُ.
﴿وَلِتَبْتَغُوا من فَضله﴾ يَعْنِي: طَلَبَ التِّجَارَةِ فِي السُّفُنِ.
