[And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger]—meaning from among those who were destroyed by the punishment—[that you worship Allah and avoid Taghut]. The Taghut is Satan, for he is the one who invited them to the worship of idols. [Then see how was the end of the deniers]—their end was that Allah destroyed them, then consigned them to the Fire.
﴿وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَسُولا﴾ يَعْنِي. مِمَّنْ أُهْلِكَ بِالْعَذَابِ ﴿أَنِ اعبدوا الله وَاجْتَنبُوا الطاغوت﴾ وَالطَّاغُوتُ: الشَّيْطَانُ؛ هُوَ دَعَاهُمْ إِلَى عِبَادَةِ الأَوْثَانِ ﴿فَانْظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَة المكذبين﴾ كَانَ عاقبتهم أَن دمر الله عَلَيْهِم، ثمَّ صيرهم إِلَى النَّار.
