"And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord," meaning: the Quran, "except that they turned away from it," by which is meant: the polytheists of the Arabs.
﴿وَمَا تَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ آيَةٍ مِنْ آيَات رَبهم﴾ يَعْنِي: الْقُرْآنَ، ﴿إِلا كَانُوا عَنْهَا معرضين﴾ يَعْنِي بِهِ: مُشْركي الْعَرَب.
