"Those who disbelieved and averted [others] from the way of Allah - We will increase them in punishment over [some] punishment." The interpretation of Ibn Mas'ud: [They will be met with] snakes and scorpions that have fangs like tall palm trees.
﴿الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَصَدُّوا عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ زِدْنَاهُمْ عَذَابًا فَوْقَ الْعَذَابِ﴾ تَفْسِيرُ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ: حَيَّاتٍ وَعَقَارِبَ لَهَا أَنْيَابٌ مِثْلَ النَّخْلِ الطُّوَالِ.
