"And He is the Irresistible, above His servants," He has subdued them by death and by whatever He wills of His command. "And He sends guardians over you," from among the angels; they preserve the deeds of the children of Adam and record them, and they protect him from that which has not been decreed for him, until the decree comes. "Until, when death comes to one of you, Our messengers take him, and they do not neglect" the command of Allah.
Yahya [said]: It has reached us that the Angel of Death has assistants from the angels; they are the ones who draw the soul out of the body, until, when they are at the moment of their departure, the Angel of Death comes, and they do not know the appointed times of the servants until the knowledge of that comes to them from before Allah.
﴿وَهُوَ القاهر فَوق عباده﴾ قَهَرَهُمْ بِالْمَوْتِ، وَبِمَا شَاءَ مِنْ أمره. ﴿وَيُرْسل عَلَيْكُم حفظَة﴾ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ؛ يَحْفَظُونَ أَعْمَالَ بَنِي آدَمَ وَيَكْتُبُونَهَا، وَيَحْفَظُونَهُ مِمَّا لَمْ يُقَدَّرْ لَهُ؛ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ الْقَدَرُ ﴿حَتَّى إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ تَوَفَّتْهُ رُسُلُنَا وَهُمْ لَا يُفَرِّطُونَ﴾ فِي أَمْرِ اللَّهِ.
يحيى: وَبَلَغَنَا أَنَّ لِمَلَكِ الْمَوْتِ أَعْوَانًا مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ هُمُ الَّذِينَ يَسِلُّونَ الرُّوحَ مِنَ الْجَسَدِ؛ حَتَّى إِذَا [كَانُوا عِنْدَ خُرُوجِهِمْ جَاءَ] مَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ، وَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ آجَالَ الْعِبَادِ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُمْ عِلْمُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ قبل الله.
