"And when he saw the sun rising"—meaning ascending—"he said, 'This is my Lord; this is greater'"—meaning, than the moon and the star. He said: So he observed it until it set. "But when it set"—it vanished—"he said, 'O my people, indeed I am free from what you associate with Allah.'"
Surah Al-An'am from verse (80) to verse (83).
﴿فَلَمَّا رأى الشَّمْس بازغة﴾ [أَيْ: طَالِعَةً] ﴿قَالَ هَذَا رَبِّي هَذَا أكبر﴾ أَيْ: مِنَ الْقَمَرِ وَالْكَوْكَبِ. قَالَ: فَرَاعَاهَا حَتَّى غَابَتْ ﴿فَلَمَّا أَفَلَتْ﴾ ذَهَبَتْ ﴿قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ إِنِّي بريءٌ مِمَّا تشركون﴾.
