[His saying:] "And how should I fear what you associate [with Him]?" meaning: these idols. "While you do not fear that you have associated with Allah that for which He has not sent down to you any authority," meaning: any proof. "Which of the two parties has more right to security?" meaning: the one who worshipped Allah, or the one who worshipped the idols?
﴿وَكَيف أَخَاف مَا أشركتم﴾ يَعْنِي: مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَوْثَانِ ﴿وَلا تَخَافُونَ أَنَّكُمْ أَشْرَكْتُمْ بِاللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلْطَانًا﴾ يَعْنِي: حُجَّةً ﴿فَأَيُّ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ أَحَقُّ بالأمن﴾ أَي: من عبد الله، و [من] عبد الْأَوْثَان؟
