come with Scriptures. So from where did Muhammad come with this Scripture? Allah said to Muhammad: Say to them: "Who revealed the Scripture that Moses brought, as a light and guidance for the people?" meaning: for those who were guided by it, "which you make into fragments, disclosing [some of] it and concealing much." The qaratīs (fragments/scrolls) are the books which they wrote with their own hands, containing what they distorted from the Torah.

"And you were taught that which you did not know, neither you nor your fathers." He says: You were taught knowledge, but it did not become knowledge for you due to your wasting it, nor for your fathers. "Say, 'Allah [revealed it]'": He who revealed the Scripture, to the end of the verse. This was before he was ordered to fight the People of the Scripture.
