[that he] has been inspired, while nothing has been inspired to him, and who says, 'I will reveal the like of what Allah has revealed.' Al-Hasan and Qatadah said: It was revealed concerning Musaylimah the Liar.
"And if you could but see when the wrongdoers are in the overwhelming agonies of death," [to the end of] the verse.
Yahya: Some of the Kufans informed me, from one who narrated to him, from Abu Umamah, who said:
This occurs at the time of death. They seize [the soul of the disbeliever] and promise him the Fire, and it is intensified for him, even if you see that it is made easy for him. And they seize the soul of the believer, and promise him Paradise, and it is made easy for him, even if you see that it is intensified for him."
أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ وَلَمْ يُوحَ إِلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ وَمَنْ قَالَ سَأُنْزِلُ مِثْلَ مَا أنزل الله﴾ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ وَقَتَادَةُ: نَزَلَتْ فِي مُسَيْلِمَةَ الْكَذَّابِ.
﴿وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذِ الظَّالِمُونَ فِي غَمَرَات الْمَوْت﴾ الْآيَةَ.
يحيى: أَخْبَرَنِي بَعْضُ الْكُوفِيِّينَ عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ:
هَذَا عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ يَقْبِضُونَ [رُوحَ الْكَافِرِ] (وَيَعِدُونَهُ) بِالنَّارِ، وَيُشَدَّدُ عَلَيْهِ، وَإِنْ رَأَيْتُمْ أَنَّهُ يُهَوَّنُ عَلَيْهِ، وَيَقْبِضُونَ رُوحَ الْمُؤْمِنِ، وَيَعِدُونَهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ وَيُهَوَّنُ عَلَيْهِ، وَإِنْ رَأَيْتُمْ أَنه يشدد عَلَيْهِ ".
