"And why should you not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned?" meaning: eat of it, for it is permissible for you. "While He has explained in detail"—meaning He has made clear to you—"what He has forbidden to you," from carrion, blood, and so on until the end of the verse, "except that to which you are compelled" from those very things that Allah has forbidden.
"And indeed, many lead others astray by their desires without knowledge" that has come to them from Allah, nor any proof; meaning: the polytheists. "Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of the transgressors," meaning: those who overstep the command of Allah.
