"O company of jinn and mankind," meaning: those among them who disbelieved. "Did there not come to you messengers from among you?" (Meaning: from among mankind, for Allah did not send a prophet from the jinn, nor from among women).
"Relating to you My verses and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours? They said, 'We bear witness against ourselves,' that the messengers did indeed come to us in the worldly life.
Allah said: "And the worldly life deluded them," when they were in it, "and they will bear witness against themselves" in the Hereafter, "that they were disbelievers" in the worldly life.
﴿يَا معشر الْجِنّ وَالْإِنْس﴾ يَعْنِي: مَنْ كَفَرَ مِنْهُمْ ﴿أَلَمْ يأتكم رسل مِنْكُم﴾ (يَعْنِي: مِنَ الْإِنْسِ) وَلَمْ يَبْعَثِ اللَّهُ نَبِيًّا مِنَ الْجِنِّ، وَلَا مِنَ النِّسَاءِ.
﴿يَقُصُّونَ عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتِي وَيُنْذِرُونَكُمْ لِقَاءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا قَالُوا شَهِدنَا على أَنْفُسنَا﴾ أَنَّهُ قَدْ جَاءَتْنَا الرُّسُلُ فِي الدُّنْيَا.
قَالَ اللَّهُ: ﴿وَغَرَّتْهُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا﴾ إِذْ كَانُوا فِيهَا ﴿وَشَهِدُوا عَلَى أنفسهم﴾ فِي الْآخِرَةِ ﴿أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا كَافِرِينَ﴾ فِي الدُّنْيَا
