And ten were untruthful. The ten said: "We saw a land that consumes its inhabitants, and we saw in it fortified strongholds, and we saw tyrannical men; one man among them is worth a hundred of us." Thus, the Children of Israel became cowardly and said: "By Allah, we shall never enter it until they depart from it; if they depart from it, then we will enter."
وَكَذَبَ عَشَرَةٌ، فَقَالَتِ الْعَشَرَةُ:
رَأَيْنَا أَرْضًا تَأْكُلُ أَهْلَهَا، وَرَأَيْنَا بِهَا حُصُونًا مَنِيعَةً، وَرَأَيْنَا رِجَالًا جَبَابِرَةً، يَنْبَغِي لِلرَّجُلِ مِنْهُمْ مِائَةٌ مِنَّا، فَجَبُنَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ فَقَالُوا: وَاللَّهِ لَنْ نَدْخُلَهَا حَتَّى يَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا؛ فَإِنْ يَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا فَإِنَّا دَاخِلُونَ.
