"These will receive their portion from the Book." Mujahid said: It means, they will receive what has been written for them.

"Until Our messengers come to them"—meaning the angels—"to take them in death." Al-Hasan said: This is the taking in death of the people of the Fire. "They will say, 'Where are those you used to call upon besides Allah?'"—meaning your partners—"They will say, 'They have strayed from us,' and they will bear witness against themselves that they were"—in this world—"disbelievers."
