God said to Moses, when you named them the defiantly disobedient (fasiqin): "So indeed, it is forbidden to them for forty years; [in which] they will wander through the earth. So do not sorrow," meaning: do not grieve, "over the defiantly disobedient people." So they wandered.
قَالَ اللَّهُ لِمُوسَى إِذْ سَمَّيْتَهُمْ فَاسِقِينَ: ﴿فَإِنَّهَا مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً يَتِيهُونَ فِي الأَرْضِ فَلا تأس﴾ فَلَا تَحْزَنْ ﴿عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْفَاسِقِينَ﴾ فَتَاهُوا
