"And when We raised the mountain over them as if it were a canopy." Meaning: We lifted it. The explanation of the lifting of the mountain over them has already passed in Surah al-Baqarah.
﴿وَإِذْ نَتَقْنَا الْجَبَلَ فَوْقَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُ ظلة﴾ أَيْ: رَفَعْنَاهُ؛ وَقَدْ مَضَى تَفْسِيرُ رَفْعِ الْجَبَلِ فَوْقَهُمْ فِي سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَة.
