"It will not reveal it," meaning: it will not manifest it "at its time" except He. "It lies heavily in the heavens and the earth," al-Hasan said: meaning: upon the heavens and the earth, until the heavens split apart, the stars scatter, and the mountains and seas of the earth vanish.
"It will not come upon you except suddenly."
Yahya narrated from Uthman, from Nu'aym ibn 'Abd Allah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The Hour will be established while two men have spread their garment, trading it, yet they will not have folded it by the time the Hour is established. The Hour will be established while a man has raised his morsel to his mouth, yet it will not reach it by the time the Hour is established."
"They ask you as if you are familiar with it." The interpretation of Qatadah: The Quraysh said: "O Muhammad, confide in us the matter of the Hour, due to the kinship between us and you." So Allah said: "They ask you as if you are familiar with it." In this interpretation, it is advanced: They ask you about it as if you are familiar with it.
Muhammad said: It is also said that the meaning is: as if you are concerned with seeking its knowledge. It is said: "Hafaytu bi-al-amr ahfa bihi hafawatan" (I was concerned/attentive to the matter) when I am concerned with it.
Surah al-A'raf from verse (188) only.
﴿لَا يجليها﴾ لَا يظهرها ﴿لوَقْتهَا﴾ فِي وَقْتِهَا ﴿إِلا هُوَ ثَقُلَتْ فِي السَّمَاوَات وَالْأَرْض﴾ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: يَعْنِي: عَلَى السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْض، حَتَّى تشققت لَهَا السَّمَوَات، وَانْتَثَرَتِ النُّجُومُ، وَذَهَبَتْ جِبَالُ الأَرْضِ وَبِحَارُهَا.
﴿لَا تَأْتِيكُمْ إِلا بَغْتَةً﴾.
يحيى: عَنْ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ:
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: " تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ وَالرَّجُلانِ قَدْ نَشَرَا ثَوْبَهُمَا يَتَبَايَعَانِهِ فَمَا يَطْوِيَانِهِ؛ حَتَّى تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ، وَتَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ وَالرَّجُلُ قَدْ رَفَعَ أَكْلَتَهُ إِلَى فِيهِ فَمَا تَصِلُ حَتَّى تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ ".
﴿يَسْأَلُونَكَ كَأَنَّك حفي عَنْهَا﴾ تَفْسِيرُ قَتَادَةَ: قَالَتْ قريشٌ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، أَسِرَّ إِلَيْنَا أَمْرَ السَّاعَةِ؛ لِمَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ مِنَ الْقَرَابَةِ، فَقَالَ اللَّهُ: ﴿يَسْأَلُونَكَ كَأَنَّكَ حَفِيٌّ عَنْهَا﴾ هِيَ فِي هَذَا التَّفْسِيرِ مُقَدَّمَةٌ يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنْهَا كَأَنَّكَ حفيٌّ.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: وَقِيلَ: الْمَعْنَى: كَأَنَّكَ معنيٌّ بِطَلَبِ عِلْمِهَا؛ يُقَالُ: حَفَيْتُ بِالأَمْرِ أَحْفِي بِهِ حَفَاوَةً؛ إِذَا عَنَيْتُ بِهِ.
سُورَة الْأَعْرَاف من الْآيَة (١٨٨) فَقَط.
