Qatadah said: "It was revealed specifically concerning the people of shirk (polytheism)."
﴿إِلا الَّذِينَ تَابُوا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَن تقدروا عَلَيْهِم﴾ الْآيَةَ.
قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: نَزَلْتُ فِي أهل الشّرك خَاصَّة.
