a faction, then expel him to others; he will come to them and corrupt them just as he corrupted you. By Allah, it is likely that he will sway them against you." They said, "By Allah, he has spoken the truth." Then Abu Jahl spoke and said, "As for me, I see that you should take one man from every clan of the Quraysh, then give each man of them a sword, and they should all come to him and strike him together. Thus, his people will not know whom to seek vengeance from, and the Quraysh will pay his blood money (diyah)."

Iblis said, "By Allah, this young man has spoken the truth; the matter is exactly as he said." He [the narrator] said: So they agreed upon that.

Then Gabriel descended to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and informed him, and he commanded him to depart. He left that very night for Medina and entered the cave. Allah says: "And they plot, and Allah plots; and Allah is the best of plotters."

Muhammad [Ibn Abi Zamanin] said: The "plotting" (makr) from Allah means: the requital and retribution, meaning that He will recompense them for their plotting.

And the meaning of "li-yuthbituka" (to restrain you) is: to hold you back. From this, it is said: A person is "muthbat" (incapacitated) by pain, if he is prevented from movement.
