{[Remember] when Allah showed them to you in your dream as few. And if He had shown them to you as many, you would have lost courage and would have disputed in the matter.} Al-Kalbi said:
When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) set out for Badr, and Allah informed him of the march of the polytheists, He showed him the polytheists in his dream as few. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Rejoice, for Allah has shown me the polytheists in my dream as few."
﴿إِذْ يُرِيكَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِي مَنَامِكَ قَلِيلا وَلَوْ أَرَاكَهُمْ كَثِيرًا لَفَشِلْتُمْ ولتنازعتم فِي الْأَمر﴾ قَالَ الْكَلْبِيُّ:
إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لما سَارَ إِلَى بَدْرٍ، وَأَخْبَرَهُ اللَّهُ بِسَيْرِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ، أَرَاهُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ فِي مَنَامِهِ قَلِيلا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ: أَبْشِرُوا؛ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ أَرَانِي الْمُشْرِكِينَ فِي مَنَامِي قَلِيلا ".
