"And prepare for them whatever you are able of power" (Qur'an 8:60). Zayd ibn Aslam said: "Power here means: weaponry." "And of steeds of war, by which you may terrify" - meaning: you frighten - "the enemy of Allah and your enemy."

Yahya: From [...] from Sulayman ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Dimashqi, from al-Qasim, the freed slave of Abd al-Rahman, from Amr ibn Abasah, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: "Whoever shoots an arrow at the enemy and his arrow reaches them—whether it hits the enemy or misses—it is like the freeing of a slave."

Yahya: From al-Mu'alla, from Amr ibn Abd Allah, from Makhul, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever keeps a horse for the sake of Allah is like one who stretches out his hand with charity."
