"And others besides them" (Qur'an 8:60) — meaning: other than the polytheists, which refers to the hypocrites. "You do not know them; Allah knows them."
Muhammad said: "And others" is a conjunction linked to: "By which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy," meaning: and by which you may terrify others besides them.
﴿وَآخَرين من دونهم﴾ مِنْ دُونِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ؛ يَعْنِي: الْمُنَافِقِينَ ﴿لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُم الله يعلمهُمْ﴾.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: (وَآخَرين) عَطْفٌ عَلَى: ﴿تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِ عَدُوَّ الله وَعَدُوكُمْ﴾ وَتُرْهِبُونَ بِهِ آخَرِينَ مِنْ دُونِهِمْ.
