مجلد 2 · صفحة 55٤٥

الترجمة · EN

[And We ordained for them therein], meaning the Torah, [that a life is for a life], up to His saying: [and the wounds is legal retribution]. This verse is obligatory upon this [Muslim] nation, and everything that Allah mentioned in the Quran as having been revealed in the previous scripture, then did not abrogate it in the Quran, remains established and is to be acted upon.

[But whoever gives [his right as] charity, it is an expiation for him]. Qatadah said: meaning, an expiation for his sin.

Yahya, from al-Mu'alla, from Aban, from al-Sha'bi, from a man among the Ansar who said:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked about His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He): [But whoever gives [his right as] charity, it is an expiation for him].
