Then he returned to the story of the treaty-holders; he said: "Except for those with whom you made a treaty among the polytheists and who have not been deficient toward you in anything," meaning: they have not harmed you, "nor supported anyone against you"—meaning: aided [anyone] against you—from among the polytheists, "so complete for them their treaty until their term."
ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى قِصَّةِ أَصْحَابِ الْعَهْدِ؛ فَقَالَ: ﴿إِلا الَّذِينَ عَاهَدْتُمْ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنْقُصُوكُمْ شَيْئا﴾ أَيْ: لَمْ يَضُرُّوكُمْ ﴿وَلَمْ يُظَاهِرُوا﴾ يعاونوا ﴿عَلَيْكُم أحدا﴾ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ﴿فَأَتِمُّوا إِلَيْهِمْ عَهْدَهُمْ إِلَى مدتهم﴾.
