"And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection," in order to hear the Word of Allah, "then grant him protection so that he may hear the Word of Allah." If he then accepts Islam, he accepts it; and if he refuses to accept Islam, then escort him to his "place of safety," meaning: do not disturb him until he reaches his place of safety.
Al-Hasan said: This is a definitive (muhkama) ruling until the Day of Resurrection.
﴿وَإِنْ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ اسْتَجَارَكَ﴾ لِيَسْمَعَ كَلامَ اللَّهِ ﴿فَأَجِرْهُ حَتَّى يسمع كَلَام الله﴾ فَإِنْ أَسْلَمَ أَسْلَمَ، وَإِنْ أَبَى أَن يسلم فأبلغه ﴿مأمنه﴾ أَيْ: لَا تُحَرِّكْهُ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ مَأْمَنَهُ.
قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: هِيَ محكمةٌ إِلَى يَوْم الْقِيَامَة.
