"They have exchanged the signs of Allah for a small price"—he means: the worldly goods. "And they have averted others from His way."
Surah at-Tawbah from verse (12) to verse (13).
﴿اشْتَرَوْا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلا﴾ يُرِيدُ: مَتَاعَ الدُّنْيَا ﴿فَصَدُّوا عَنْ سَبيله﴾.
